Bambino Gesù accredited as teaching hospital

(Vatican Radio) The Holy See’s pediatric hospital, Ospedale Bambino Gesù, has received accreditation from the world’s premier accrediting agency, the Joint Commission International, as a teaching hospital (ospedale accademico).

Bambino Gesù has been found by the JCI to perform at a high level in more than 300 specific test-areas, and to pass more than 1300 unique standards of excellence, and now operates as a full-fledged teaching facility.

JCI is a non-governmental, non-profit organization created 1994 as the international division of the United States-based Joint Commission, which has been dedicated to improving the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare for over 75 years.

The goal of the Commission is to stimulate continuous and lasting improvement in healthcare facilities by advocating shared international standards, international objectives for patient safety, and defined measurements.
