Pope Francis greets "Up With People" student group

(Vatican Radio) During the Wednesday General Audience, Pope Francis made special greetings to the Up With People ("Viva la Gente") organization, which brings students to different parts of the world to take part in educational experiences and participate in volunteer activities.

The participants travel to nearly 20 communities on at least two different continents. In each community, students will spend 4–7 days living with host families, volunteering with local non-profit or civic organizations, attending educational workshops, learning about the region, and performing a 2-hour professional stage show for the members of the community.

During the General Audience, the group had the opportunity to sing for Pope Francis, and he met personally with them afterward. Up with People will be in Rome until 10 December, and will perform on December 6 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
