Cardinal Gracias looks back at National Eucharistic Congress of India

The Catholic Church of India held its National Eucharistic Congress in the Archdiocese of Bombay, Nov. 12-15.   The 4-day Congress was convoked to commemorate 50 years of  Blessed Pope Paul  VI’s visit to India, Dec 2-5, 1964, on the ‎occasion ‎of the 38th International Eucharistic Congress in Bombay, in what is called ‎Mumbai today.  “Nourished by Christ, to Nourish Others” was the theme of the event that was hosted at the Pius X Seminary, Goregaon, of Bombay Archdiocese.

A Eucharistic Congress gathers together the clergy, religious and laity to ‎promote the awareness of the ‎central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Catholic ‎Church. It helps improve the ‎understanding and celebration of the liturgy and draws attention to the ‎social dimension of the ‎Eucharist.

Well, to know about how the National Eucharistic Congress  of India went, we contacted the Congress host, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay.  Speaking to us on the telephone from his office, he first told us about the participants.
