Vatican's “Bambino Gesu” Paediatric Hospital promises transparency

(Vatican Radio) The new executive board of the Foundation for the Holy See’s “Bambino Gesu” Paediatric Hospital met on Wednesday morning for the first time following the appointment of the new executives by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.

Cardinal Parolin said the Foundation is meant to begin from a “completely new” basis, and supported it with his “fraternal encouragement.”

During the meeting, held in Rome, the board approved the new statutes of the “completely renovated” foundation, which aim “to guarantee transparency, solidarity and innovation”, according to the president Mariella Enoc.

Enoc said the Foundation will be “a house of glass” as it raises money for the Hospital for “research, innovation, and solidarity initiatives in the international arena. "

Not being able to be present in person at the meeting, Cardinal Parolin sent a message thanking the members of the board “for having accepted a difficult task, moved by that noble spirit of service, humble and disinterested, that should characterize the disciples of Jesus and, in our case, those who work at different levels, in the Hospital of the Pope.”

Founded in 1869, the “Bambino Gesu” Paediatric Hospital is one of the leading children’s hospitals in Italy, but has faced financial issues in recent years.

There new board members are President Enoch, Peter Brunette, Ferruccio De Bortoli, Maria White Flour, Catherine Samson, Anna Maria Tarantola and Antonio Zanardi Landi.
