Papal greetings for members of Catholic doctors' group

(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis has greeted members of the Association of Italian Catholic Doctors (AMCI) who are taking part in a conference this weekend in Vercelli, Italy. The conference is reflecting on the theme, “Ethics and Spending Review in Healthcare: Conflicts and alliances between ethics, scientific evidence and economic resources.”

Listen to the report:

In a telegram signed by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, the Holy Father expresses his best wishes to the participants, with hopes for “new milestones in the service of the human person, and in the progress of medical science in constant reference to perennial human and Christian values.”

The telegram continues, “His Holiness invites you to offer to contemporary culture, marked by secularism and relativism, the important contributions of Christian thought that open up ethical and spiritual dimensions, and enlighten with the splendour of the truth.”

Among those taking part in the conference are Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi and Cardinal Edoardo Menichelli.
