Jesuit Refugee Service, South Asia

Jesuit priest Fr Prem Kumar from southern ‎India’s Tamil Nadu state, who was the director of the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) in Afghanistan, was abducted by armed men on June 2, 2014, near Heart.  After over 8 months of captivity, the 48-year old priest was released on Feb. 22, this year.  The JRS has been working in Afghanistan since 2005.  Before moving to Afghanistan in 2011, Fr. Prem had been working for JRS in India, serving Sri Lankan refugees living in Tamil Nadu.  Currently he is assistant to the director of JRS South Asia, Fr. Stan Fernandes.   Fr. Prem was recently in Rome, and he talked to us about the Jesuit Refugee Service in South Asia.
