Malaysian PM confirms Renunion Island debris from missing MH370

(Vatican Radio)  The debris found last week on Reunion Island has been confirmed by Malaysia’s Prime Minister as part of the Boeing 777 plane which went missing 17 months ago, Malaysia Airlines flight MH 370.

Listen to Devin Watkins' report:

Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak personally confirmed the debris was from the missing plane and promised to continue the investigation into what happened.

"Today, 515 days since the plane disappeared, it is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you that an international team of experts has conclusively confirmed that the aircraft debris found on Reunion Island is indeed from MH370.  We now have physical evidence that, as I announced on 24th March last year, flight MH370 tragically ended in the southern Indian Ocean.

"The burden and uncertainty faced by the families during this time has been unspeakable.  It is my hope that this confirmation, however tragic and painful, will at least bring certainty to the families and loved ones of the 239 people onboard MH370.  They have our deepest sympathy and prayers."

French authorities examining the plane, however, were more cautious, saying only, "There exists a very high probability that the flaperon indeed belongs to Flight MH370."
