Vatican Radio: 17th Sunday in Ordinary time 26 July 2015

Today we celebrate the 17th Sunday in ordinary time.

In the first reading a question is raised about how it is possible to feed many people with the little food available. The prophet Elisha has the answer. It is possible because God has said, “They will eat and have some left over.” Faith makes it possible to see what in human eyes is impossible to be possible. God is concerned about us and comes in to intervene in various situations that we face in life. Nevertheless, our contribution is expected, little as it might be, like the man who offered bread and grain. When we make our contribution, God takes it and does the rest.

In the gospel the importance of trusting in God in all situations is also emphasised. We are called to trust even in what looks to be humanly impossible.

Listen to Vatican Radio's English Service for Africa's Sunday Liturgy for 26.07.2015. The Programme is presented by Fr.Paul Samasumo
