Adam Cardinal Kozłowiecki memorial hospital celebrates open day

The Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) says through Cardinal Adam Memorial Hospital in Lusaka, the Catholic Church will continue to reach out to the poor and vulnerable in society, especially those that are sick and need the healing of body, mind and soul.

Zambia’s Archbishop of Lusaka and ZEC President, Telesphore Mpundu said the Catholic Church is working closely with the Zambian Ministry of Health in championing a healthy nation and providing cost effective and quality healthcare services as close to the family as possible.

Archbishop Mpundu announced that the ultimate goal of Cardinal Adam Memorial Hospital is to become a referral hospital that offers specialised health services. He added that already apart from general health services, the hospital offers services in Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Urology, Nephrology and Oncology.

Archbishop Mpundu said this during the Cardinal Adam Memorial Hospital Open Day. The Memorial Hospital is named after Adam Cardinal Kozłowiecki, the first Cardinal in Zambia.

The hospital is located in Lusaka’s Bauleni residential area.

Lusaka Central constituency member of parliament and former acting republican president, Dr. Guy Scott thanked the Catholic Church for greatly complementing government efforts in health service delivery. He acknowledged that the Church has a unique and highly respected place in Zambia’s health care system.

60% of health service provision in the rural areas of Zambia is by the Church.
