Bangladesh Church holds inter-faith meeting ‎


The Catholic Church of Bangladesh recently concluded a workshop to create a conducive environment for inter-religious dialogue in the overwhelmingly Muslim nation.   Held at the Caritas headquarters in Khulna, Bangladesh’s third largest city, the May 18 to 23 meeting was organized by the Commission for Christian Unity and Interreligious Dialogue of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference  of Bangladesh (CBCB).   More than 60 Catholics, including priests and nuns, as also Muslim and Hindu leaders participated in the 5 days of meetings and discussions. Commission secretary, Oblate of Mary Immaculate priest, Fr. Ajit Costa, told AsiaNews they want the people to have ever greater skills in the field of inter-religious dialogue so they know how they should behave with people of other faiths and help avoid religious conflicts.   Commission president, Bishop Bejoy D'Cruz of Sylhet, stressed on listening to and sharing experiences with people of other faiths in a friendly manner in an atmosphere of respect, saying that diversity is a value.  (AsiaNews)
