Men of St Joseph’s guild gather for weekend retreat in Zimbabwe

Catholic men of St Joseph’s guild gathered at the Holy Rosary Parish in Mvurwi, Zimbabwe for their annual weekend retreat.

Mvurwi is located in Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland Central in the Archdiocese of Harare. More than seven hundred members drawn from all corners of the Archdiocese of Harare including guests from other dioceses such as Gweru, Chinhoyi and Mutare braced the heat as prayer became their common language.

The event was held under the theme, “Hearing the Word of God and Celebrating Consecrated Life” (“Kunzwa Shoko Ramwari Semhuri Pamwe Nekupemberera Hupenyu Hwakateketerwa ).

During the Mass on Saturday, the Archbishop of Harare Robert Christopher Ndlovu was given two pigeons symbolising  the gifts taken to the temple by Joseph with baby Jesus. He was also given a lamb as recognition of the Good Shepherd he is to his flock in the Archdiocese. The Archbishop was presented with a donation of a tonne of fertilizer and groceries for Mazoe minor seminary.

Earlier on Saturday, the St. Joseph’s guild members held an evangelisation procession in Mvurwi that brought business in this small town to a halt. The procession ended at Mvurwi  hospital where they handed over a donation of eighty blankets to the health institution.

The weekend retreat was closed with Mass attended by both guild members and the community on Sunday where all full members renewed their vows.
