New Bible youth app launched

(Vatican Radio) A new app has been launched aimed at encouraging a greater knowledge of the Bible.

The new application is called “Build your Bible app for youth”: and is the brainchild of the American Bible Society and developed by the Ramón Pané Foundation.

The app, comes in the form of an interactive game which allows users to participate in a friendly competition on Facebook "building their own Bible" as they reach different levels.

The Presidential Liaison to Roman Catholic Ministry at the American Bible Society, Mario J Paredes, explains to Vatican Radio that “you could create your own community by inviting friends and contacts to engage in a dialogue because the game has 2,000 questions about the Bible.” He adds, “you purchase books if you give the right answers and with the purchase of those books you begin to build your library.”

Speaking about the power of social media in transmitting the faith, Mr Paredes says that it is really the only way to speak to the new generation and is a very effective way of spreading the Word of God.

The app, is available in English and Spanish, in collaboration with the Libreria Editrice Vaticana publishing house.
