Guinea Conakry's oposition reject dialogue with Government

“Dialogue cannot be a permanent political game. We already engaged in dialogue with no outcome”, said the leading opposition figure Sidya Touré, in response to a call for talks by the Conakry government.

The opening of the government to dialogue came after the opposition forces called for renewed protests against President Alpha Condé over the timetable for the presidential election, setting the vote for October 11, ahead of local elections repeatedly postponed since 2010.

According to Touré, the dialogue offer “is merely to appease spectators and elections will be called at the last minute. We refuse to enter in this logic”.
