Nepal bishop urges young people to spread Christ’s light ‎

May young Catholics, strengthened by the sacrament of Communion, "go into every street of Nepal, where people live with a spiritual hunger that arises from God's absence. Reach out and tell them the message of God! They are waiting to walk Christ's path. Lead them to a life in the Lord."  This was the call of Bishop Paul Simick, the Apostolic Vicar of Nepal as he administered Communion on Sunday to more than 30 children in Kathmandu's Cathedral of the Assumption.  About 3,000 people joined a solemn procession of the feast of Christ the King, which ended in the Cathedral of the Assumption.  "We would like to spread the Christian message," said a youngster on behalf of the young people. "We shall try to reach out to all those who have spiritual needs, regardless of caste, class, religion or age. Dear Jesus, we would like to reaffirm our faith in you and we thank you for the solemn experience of the Holy Spirit and its special gifts."  Hundreds of non-Catholics were present in the church, on their way to embracing the faith by attending catechumenate courses. One of them, Hindu-born Deepak Tamang, who is currently taking regular catechism classes, held a candle in his hand and expressed his joy in living in the ‘light of Christ.  (Source: AsiaNews)
