Sr. Euphrasia will be India's new saint on Nov. 23

Indian Sr. Euphrasia Eluvatingal, born in 1877 and died in 1952, is a member of the ‎Congregation of the Mother of Carmel (CMC), of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, based in southern ‎India’s Kerala state.  On joining the congregation, she assumed the name, Euphrasia of the Sacred ‎Heart of Jesus.  The saintly nun was declared Blessed in December, 2006, and now she will be ‎officially declared a saint by Pope Francis at a canonization ceremony here in the Vatican, on Nov. 23, ‎along with CMC‎ founder Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, also from India, and four others from Italy.  ‎In the run up to this great day, we talked to CMC Sr. Mary Julit, who is helping Fr. Cherian ‎Thunduparampil, ‎ the postulator or promoter for the sainthood cause of Sr. Euphrasia and Fr. Kuriakose.  We first ‎asked Sr. Julit when was it that her congregation initiated the cause of the sainthood of Sr. Euphrasia. ‎  Listen:
