IS fighters continue siege of Syrian town on Turkish border


(Vatican Radio)  The battle for the town of Kobani continues, with U.S. warplanes bombing Islamic State targets in support of the town's Kurdish defenders – while warning that IS fighters could still seize the embattled enclave. The United States and its allies have stepped up air strikes in the past two days near the Syrian town of Kobani, where the Kurdish fighters defending the town are providing US forces target coordinates to try to thwart and IS assault. The U.S.-led military coalition said it had bombed Islamic State targets in and around Kobani nearly 40 times in the space of 48 hours – roughly three times the number of last week. Click below to hear a report from Nathan Morley
