(Vatican Radio) At least 35 Palestinians have been killed this morning in an Israeli
airstrike on Gaza as part of a large-scale search for an Israeli soldier, who the
Israeli military says was captured by Hamas in an ambush soon after the failed ceasefire
on Friday.
U.S. President Barack Obama and UN Secretary General
Ban Ki-moon have called for the Israeli soldier’s immediate release, though Hamas
insists it does not know the soldier’s whereabouts, suggesting that he may have been
killed in earlier clashes with Hamas fighters.
