UN calls for ceasefire between Israel, Hamas

(Vatican Radio) After holding an emergency closed-door meeting on Sunday, the U.N. Security Council has called for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza.

At least 100 Palestinians and 13 Israeli soldiers were killed in Sunday's fighting alone; more than 500 people have died in the past two weeks.
