(Vatican Radio)  A 2-member delegation from the Pontifical Council for Interrelious Dialogue is currently visiting Indonesia (from 22-27 June) and holding talks with local Church representatives and leading Muslim organisations in the nation.  The two members are the Council’s Secretary Father Miguel Angel Ayuso Guixot and Father Markus Solo, a specialist on Islam in Asia and the Pacific.  During their visit, they are meeting with members of the Indonesian Catholic Bishops’ Conference and Catholic institutions involved in interreligious dialogue as well as the three most important Islamic organisations in Indonesia, the Nahdlatul Ulama, the Muhammadiyah and the Ulama Council.

In a press communique, the Pontifical Council noted that Indonesia is the world’s most populous Muslim nation and said this visit is aimed at boosting interreligious dialogue as a sign of respect and friendship, as urged by Pope Francis.
