Chilean Bishops create World Cup section on their website

(Vatican Radio) The Bishops’ Conference in Chile is devoting a special section on their website covering the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

 "The joy and happiness of the people of Chile is the joy and hope of the Church. We are very pleased, and we thank God for this moment", said the spokesman of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Chile, Jaime Coiro, in a note sent to the Fides news agency.

Comments from bishops, special prayers, the video message Pope Francis sent to the World Cup on June 12, as well as documents on the Church and Sport will feature on the website. The section is entitled: "Here we are Lord, in the World Cup".

On Wednesday, Chile secured a second round birth by knocking Spain out of the tournament with a 2-0 win at the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro.
