(Vatican Radio) A brief statement Thursday by the Director of the Vatican Press Office,
Father Federico Lombardi, said that a planned visit by Pope Francis to the Rome Sanctuary
of the “Divino Amore” has been cancelled.
The Pope was scheduled to go to the
Sanctuary South of Rome on Sunday 18 May during the afternoon.
Lombardi explained
the decision to annul the visit was taken to “lighten up” the Pope’s activities in
view of preparations for his imminent apostolic journey to the Holy Land.
He
said the visit to the Sanctuary will be scheduled for a later date.
