Nigeria: pressure mounts in search for kidnap victims

US Secretary of State John Kerry says his government will do everything it can to help free hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped last month by Islamic militants. Kerry was speaking in Ethiopia amid growing criticism of the international response to the abductions. Pressure is mounting on western nations to do more to help free the victims – much of it coming from within those nations themselves.

Nigerian police said last week that the actual number abducted girls and young women had risen to more than 300 and that 276 remain in captivity. 53 students have escaped their captors. None have been rescued by the military. Listen: RealAudioMP3
