Duke Ellington "The Private Collection"

Our selection today (April 29th) is coming from Duke Ellington's, 1956 Studio Sessions which make up "The Private Collection, Volume 1". Duke Ellington was such a prolific composer that the major record labels were unable to keep up with his production. He resolved this problem by recording at his own expense, and thereby creating this stockpile of sides made in Chicago at Bill Putnam's Universal Studios .
