Card. Tagle appointed member of Congregation for Consecrated Life
(Vatican Radio/CBCP) Pope Francis has appointed Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle
member of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic
Life.
This is the sixth curial appointment for the Cardinal Archbishop of Manila.
He is currently a member of the Congregation for Catholic Education; of the Permanent
Council of the Synod of Bishops; of the Pontifical Council for the Family; the Pontifical
Council for Migrants and Itinerant People and the Pontifical Council for the Laity.
Moreover,
Card. Tagle’s latest appointment came two weeks after he was named among the three
presidents delegate for the 3rd Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops.
The synod is set to take place from Oct. 5 to 9 at the Vatican to discuss the theme
of “Pastoral challenges to the family in the context of evangelization”.
The
other presidents delegate of the synod include Cardinal André Vingt-Trois, Archbishop
of Paris, France and Cardinal Raymondo Damasceno Assis, Archbishop of Aparecida, Brazil.
