Pope’s tweet calls on Christians to respond to evil, poverty

March 31, 2014 - In a microblog on the social media, Pope Francis urged Christians on Monday to make a special effort during Lent to answer to the question of evil and poverty in society. “Lent is a time to change direction, to respond to the reality of evil and poverty,” the Pope wrote in his Twitter account @pontifex. In his year-long pontificate Pope Francis has been pointing out that as the sins of pride and selfishness stifles the sense of the divine in man, evils in society become a norm. Hence the need to constantly repent and return to God.
