March 28, 2014 - Pope Francis on Friday once again returned to the theme of the infinite
mercy of God, this Lent, saying God does not know what else to do but love and forgive.
Speaking in his homily at the morning Mass in the chapel of the Casa Santa Marta residence
in the Vatican, the Pope said God always waits for us, forgives us and celebrates
us when we return to Him. Commenting on the reading from the Book of Hosea, the Pope
said in God’s invitation to convert there is a Father’s call for the son to return
home. Since Adam left Paradise with a sentence and as well as a promise, God has
always been faithful awaiting us all through centuries. Explaining the Parable of
the Prodigal Son, the Pope said the father who is always on the rooftop looking out
for his lost son, does not wait for him to apologize when he returns, but with his
embrace silences his mouth. God never tires of forgiving. Rather it is we get tired
of asking for forgiveness, the Pope said, adding from the business point of view God
is always in the red with loses, but he always wins in love.
