Ukraine: Increased tensions after Western sanctions, Crimean parliament vote to join

(Vatican Radio) Tensions are rising between the West and Moscow over Russian military
intervention in Ukraine after the United States and the European Union announced sanctions
and a suspension of visa talks aimed at punishing Russia. It comes while foreign observers
have been banned from entering Crimea where parliament voted to join Russia, while
the NATO military alliance has stepped up patrols near Russia's borders amid wider
