Pakistani Christians offer Lenten prayers for persecuted
March 05, 2014; On Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, Pakistani Christians fasted
and prayed for peace and harmony. Masses and religious services were held in all the
country’s churches with a special prayer for peace in the nation, that is still the
scene of attacks against the civilian population, persecution of minorities and violence
between the military and the Taliban. The dioceses of Lahore and Rawalpindi issued
a special message of peace and harmony for the faithful and the whole community, and
parishes performed the ritual of the ashes, asking the faithful to do good works
