Vatican City, 24 February 2014: In a post on the social media on Monday, Pope Francis
tweeted on Our Lady saying she is close to us when we face difficult problems. The
Pontiff wrote on his Twitter account @pontifex: “Our Lady is always close to us,
especially when we feel the weight of life with all its problems.”
Pope
Francis has been an ardent devotee of Mother Mary, always invoking her intercession
at the end of his every appeal or exhortation. On 10 December last year, the Pope
wrote on his Twitter account @pontifex: “Mary, Our Mother, sustain us in moments
of darkness, difficultly and apparent defeat.”
The Pope has now 11 million
followers on his Twitter account @Pontifex. And the re-tweeting of Pope’s message
is reported to be reaching more than 60 million people. The Pope’s English-language
handle alone has over 3 million followers. The papal tweets are published in nine
languages on the micro-blogging website. Source: VR Sedoc
