Pope encourages pro-life movements, prays for flood victims
Vatican City, 3 February 2014: After leading the crowds gathered in St. Peter’s Square
on Sunday for the traditional Marian prayer, Pope Francis went on to encourage and
support pro-life movements. Recalling the Pro-life Day in Italy, that fell on Sunday,
February 2, and the theme of which was ‘Create the future’, Pope Francis extended
his greetings and encouragement to associations, movements and cultural centers involved
in the defense and promotion of life.
The Pope said: ‘I join the Italian Bishops
in reiterating that "every child is the face of the Lord, lover of life, a gift for
the family and for society". The Pope reminded all that in their role and in their
own field, they are called to love and serve life, to accept it, respect it and promote
it, especially when it is fragile and in need of attention and care, from womb to
its natural end.
Pope Francis specially remembered the Cardinal Vicar and those
engaged in the Diocese of Rome for the animation of the Day for Life. He also appreciated
the many conferences that are dedicated to current issues related to the birth.
At
the conclusion, he prayed specially for the people of Rome and Tuscany, who are affected
by heavy rains and flood. Expressing his closeness to them, the Pope exhorted all
to remember the afflicted people in solidarity and our prayer.Source: VR Sedoc
