Pope appoints Secretary for College of Cardinals.

Jan. 29,2014: Pope Francis on Tuesday appointed 54-year-old Brazilian Archbishop Ilson de Jesus Montanari as Secretary for the College of Cardinals in the Vatican. Archbishop Montanari who is currently the secretary of Vatican’s Congregation for Bishops, was born in Sertãozinho, São Paulo state in Brazil 18 July 1959. He was ordained priest of Ribeirão Preto, Sao Paulo, 18 Aug. 1989. Blessed Pope John Paul II appointed him Secretary of the Congregation for bishops 12 October 2013, while raising him to the rank of archbishop. A month later 7 Nov. 2013 he was ordained bishop .
