Vatican Museums and Italian company ENEA sign accord to protect cultural heritage.

(Vatican Radio) The Vatican Museums and the Italian energy and technology company ENEA have signed a joint cooperation accord aimed at developing new technologies for protecting the Museums' historical, artistic, architectural and environmental heritage. As part of the collaboration, the Sistine Chapel will be monitored by a tri-dimensional radar, built by ENEA, that will check for any possible deterioration of the frescoes. The two parties will also co-operate in research for new restoration methods and how to protect works of art during transfers.
