(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis received French President Francois Hollande in a private
audience in the Vatican at 10.30 this morning. Following that encounter, Hollande
went on to meet with the Secretary of State and Cardinal-designate Pietro Parolin.
The last time a French head of State visited the Vatican was in October 2010, when
former president Nicolas Sarkozy was received by Benedict XVI. Today’s meeting represents
the eighth official visit by a president of the V French Republic to the Vatican.
