Pope tells circus performers to spread joy, brotherhood
Jan. 08, 2014: Pope Francis on Wednesday invited circus performers to spread joy and
brotherhood everywhere they go saying today’s society needs them. “As they travel
from city to city, invite them to be feel themselves messengers of joy and brotherhood
which today’s society needs very much,” the Pope told some 120 circus performers of
the 30th Golden Circus Festival being held this Christmas season in Rome
,Dec. 21- Jan. 12. After a brief performance by them at the end of his first weekly
general audience of the year in Rome’s St. Peter’s Square, the Pope applauded them
heartily saying “They have been really great!.Congratulations. Congratulations." Organized
by Liana Orfei, the 30th Golden Circus Festival has brought together some
of the leading circus schools from over 50 countries, involving over 3000 artistes.
