Pope's Pilgrimage can Bring Peace: UNITALSI President
Rome, 7 January 2014: "The Holy Land pilgrimage of Pope Francis could really be a
pillar to build a new and lasting path of Christian unity and peoples, because peace
can dwell permanently in the places of Christendom, putting an end to decades of war
and discrimination", said Salvatore Pagliuca UNITALSI national President in a press
release on Tuesday. He was commenting on the announcement of Pope Francis to make
a journey to the Holy Land in the month of May this year. UNITALSI is an Italian association
that travels with the sick and disabled on pilgrimage to Lourdes, France, and to other
international Marian sanctuaries. The association has marked 110 years of its foundation
recently in Rome with an audience with Pope Francis.
Unitalsi pray assiduously
for Pope Francis - added Pagliuca - because his trip to the Holy Land can really open
up a new page of history, civilization, peace, where the differences may represent
a value and not an occasion of inequality. In particular, the Unitalsi continue to
provide practical support to the mission of Hogar Nino Dios in Bethlehem, where Palestinian
children in difficulty are welcomed, through a constant presence of its volunteers.
The Holy Land needs our help and our prayers: the journey of Pope Francis is one more
reason to be close to the needs of our fellow Christians, the communique added.Source:
