Pope’s Vespers service on last day of 2013

December 30, 2013 - Pope Francis will bring the curtain down on the year 2013 on Tuesday with a traditional year-end evening Vespers and ‘Te Deum’ service in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. The last papal service of the year celebrating the First Vespers of the Solemnity of the Mother of God, to whom is dedicated the New Year, will included the exposition of the Most Holy Sacrament as well as the singing of “Te Deum”, an early Christian hymn of praise to God in thanksgiving for the year that is ending. The event will be webcast live on Vatican Radio. After the Vespers, the Pope will make a brief visit to the Nativity scene in the middle of St. Peter’s Square.
