December 03, 2013 - In his solicitude for children, especially those sick, Pope Francis
will visit Rome’s Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital, ahead of Christmas. Vatican Secretary
of State, Archbishop Pietro Parolin announced on Monday that the Pope will make the
visit on Dec. 21, at the end of a concert for children in the Vatican. Italy’s famous
blind tenor and singer-songwriter, Andrea Bocelli, will be one of the performers in
the charity concert titled, “The Light of Children.” The twice-a-year concert, in
collaboration with Vatican Secretariat of State, will this year contribute to a fund
for restructuring the Intensive Cardio-surgical Therapy department of the children’s
hospital. Among others performing at the concert are Annalisa Stroppa, Mauro Bonfanti,
Laura Giordano, Anastasiya Petryshak and Davide Carbone. The concert will also include
a young group from the Ballet of Rome. (Source: AGI)
