Pope’s Calendar of celebrations till January 2014 announced


Vatican City, 27 Nov 2013: The Vatican has announced Pope Francis’ program till January 2014 on Tuesday. The communique was released by Guido Marini, Master of Papal Liturgical Celebrations.
Accordingly, Pope Francis will have vespers with the students of the Roman Universities in the Vatican on Saturday, 30th November. Next day, on 1st December and First Sunday of Advent, the Pontiff will make a pastoral Visit to the Parish of ‘St. Cyril of Alexandria’ and celebrate Mass there.

On the 2nd Sunday of Advent, that is, on 8th December, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Pope Francis will visit Piazza di Spagna, as an Act of Veneration to Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Pope Francis will preside over the Solemn Christmas Mass on Tuesday, 24 December at 21.30 in St. Peters Basilica in the Vatican. Next day, Wednesday, 25 December, the Pope will give his "Urbi et Orbi" message from the central balcony of the Vatican Basilica.

Pope Francis will conclude the Year 2013 with Vespers on Tuesday, 31st December in St. Peter’s Basilica, as a thanksgiving for the past year.

The new year 2014 with a solemn papal mass at 10.00 am on Wednesday, 1st January in St. Peter’s Basilica. The day is celebrated as the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God Mass. It is also celebrated as the 47th World Day peace.

Pope Francis preside over Mass on Monday, 6th January in St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, celebrating the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord.

On Sunday, 12th January, Pope Francis will preside over Mass celebrating the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, in the Sistine Chapel. He will also baptize a few children on the occasion.
