Pakistani Christian Mother seeking return of abducted daughter
November 25, 2013 - For more than five months there has been no news of Saba Waris,
a 13 year old Pakistani Christian girl who was abducted from home and forcibly married
to a Muslim man after forced conversion. Naseem Bibi, the child's mother pleaded
for help with AsiaNews, saying she wants her daughter back. Her efforts with the
police has been without success. The little girl from Jameelabad was removed from
school as the poor family could not afford the expense of her education. When her
mother was out to work on June 20, Syed Munawar Hussain, a Muslim of 32 years, broke
into the house and abducted Saba. When Naseem did not find her daughter on her return,
she was about to go to the police but the Muslim kidnapper’s family showed up to tell
her Saba has been taken by Munawar, and threatened her with dire consequences if she
reported to the police or sought justice in the court. The Christian mother reported
to the police on June 28 and through a rights group sought justice in the court.
A warrant was issued on Oct. 17 for the arrest of Munawar, but the abductor has not
been tracked down as yet. According to Naseem Bibi, the Muslim kidnapped her daughter
in revenge. Her son Moon Waris who worked with Munawar, was not paid, and so he stopped
work. In revenge her daughter was kidnapped. (Source: AsiaNews)
