November 22, 2013 - Pope Francis on Friday received in the Vatican Prime Minister
Vjekoslav Bevanda of Bosnia who later held a meeting with Vatican Secretary of State,
Archbishop Pietro Parolin, and Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Dominique
Mamberti. The cordial talks were an occasion to exchange views on the current situation
in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the main goals of the country, the efforts to promote a
society that is more open and respects the rights of all and the challenges arising
from the current economic crisis. The two sides expressed satisfaction over the
good relations between them, of which the Basic Agreement of 2006 is an important
expression, promoting collaboration between the Church and State for the common good
and the development of the country. The talks also touched upon a few points of the
Agreement and the contribution of Catholics to society.
