Plenary of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue announced
Vatican City, 21 Nov 2013: Plenary Assembly of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious
Dialogue is scheduled for November 25 to 28 in Rome, revealed a Vatican Communique
on Thursday. Cardinal Jean Louis Tauran, President of the Council has convened the
Plenary Session of the Congregation on the theme "Members of different religious traditions
in civil society."
During the Plenary Bishop François Bousquet will speak
on the role of religion in civil society. It will be followed by other reports on
various religious traditions in a society, in Asia and Oceania, in Africa, in Europe
and the Americas. Each report will be followed by the contributions and reflections
of the Members. Father Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, Council Secretary, will expose participants
to the Council's activities over the past 5 years.
50 years since the Second
Vatican Council and at the end of the Year of Faith, the Plenary Assembly is a happy
and timely opportunity to reflect on the current situation of interreligious dialogue
in various parts of the world and to deepen what should be the role of the Christian
community to promote better relations with members of other religions, stated the
