31 Oct. 2014: Pope Francis on Thursday authorized 4 decrees for the causes of saints.
Receiving in audience Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of Congregation for the Causes
of Saints, the Pope in the course of the audience authorized Cardinal Amato to promulgate
4 decrees, one recognizing the decree of martyrdom and three others declaring
heroic virtues. The martyrdom decree concerns Bishop Antonio Durcovici of Iasi
in Rumania. Born in Altenburg, Austria in 1888, he was killed for his faith in the
prison of Sighet, Bucharest, Rumania in 1951. The other 3 decrees recognize the
heroic virtues of the following: Sr. Onorio Nagle , Founder of the Congregation
of the Presentation of the Bl. Virgin Mary. Born in Cork, Ireland in 1718 she died
there in 1784. Fr.Celestino Bottego, Founder of the Society of the Missionaries
of Mary. Born in Ohio, US in 1895, he died in Italy in 1980. Italian nun Sr.Olga
of the Mother of God belonging to the Congregation of the Daughters of the Church.
Born in Italy in 1910, she died in the Italian lagoon town of Venice in 1943.
