(Vatican Radio) On Friday morning Pope Francis met with participants taking part in
the Plenary Assembly of the Pontifical Council for the Family. The Assembly has been
looking at the theme “Family, Live the Joy of Faith” To mark the 30th Anniversary
of the Charter on the rights of the Family, the Council organized a conference Thursday
devoted to this document. One of the speakers at the event was the Supreme Knight of
the Knights of Columbus Carl Anderson. Lydia O’Kane asked him about the relevance
of the Charter today. “ He says, The Charter on the Rights of the Family we might
say is even more relevant today than it was thirty years ago when it was first promulgated,
we see the family under various types of attack, the nature of marriage, the rights
of the child, integrity of the institution of marriage and family…So the Charter of
the Rights of Family is an effort to get lawmakers and policy makers to consider the
real situation of people today.” The Plenary Assembly concludes Friday 25th
October. Listen to Lydia O'Kane's interview with Supreme Knight, Carl Anderson
