Syrian rebels attack Christian suburb, historic town
October 23, 2013: Syrian rebels have renewed their attacks on Jaramana, a largely
Christian suburb of the Syrian city of Damascus, according to multiple news agency
reports.
In addition, the Saudi newspaper Arab News reported that the “new
flash point” of the Syrian conflict is Sadad, a largely Christian town of 3,000 where
Aramaic is still spoken.
Members of the Al-Nusra Front, an Al-Qaeda affiliate,
are attacking the town because of its strategic location and its hospital, rather
than because it is Christian, the newspaper stated. (Source: CWN)
