Archdiocese of Manila hosts conference on New Evangelization
(Vatican Radio) In celebration of the Year of Faith and in response to the call for
new evangelization, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle (pictured) and the Archdiocese of
Manila have organized the Philippine Conference on the New Evangelization (PCNE) beginning
Wednesday at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.
Cardinal Tagle has said
he hopes to see a rejuvenation of the Christian faith, the Church, and the mission
to the poor following the Philippine Conference on New Evangelization.
The
Conference has been described as a celebration of the Year of Faith and a response
to the call for new evangelization, a new way of being Church that responds to the
contemporary culture.
The program for the three-day conference is focused on
the richness of the Church’s teachings and liturgy with talks from Church experts
and workers in various fields.
The conference hopes to accomplish three objectives:
To
help create an experience of God in the context of the challenges of the new millennium.
To strengthen bonds of communion within the Archdiocese of Manila
and within the Church in the Philippines
To provide
avenues of inspiration and directions imbued with the spirit of mission (new evangelization).
The
three-day conference opened with the celebration of an inculturated “Mass of the Philippine
People” celebrated by Cardinal Tagle, who also delivered the homily.
