New report warns about the rapidly deteriorating health of the world’s oceans
(Vatican Radio) Our planet’s oceans are under greater threat than previously believed
from a deadly trio of global warming, declining oxygen levels and acidification. That’s
the alarming conclusion from a new study issued by the International Programme on
the State of the Ocean, or IPSO, a group of leading scientists. Professor Alex
Rogers of Oxford University is the scientific director of IPSO and he told Susy Hodges
that the report’s findings should be seen as a major alarm bell.

the full interview with Professor Rogers of IPSO:
Asked how
alarming the report's findings are, Rogers says "we should be very worried" by these
multiple threats facing the world's oceans . These threats, he continues, risk having
a very serious impact and could destroy "entire marine ecosystems such as coral reefs
by the end of this century."
