Buddhist scholar says Christianity has brightened his life
18 Sept.2013: : A Buddhist scholar in Sri Lanka said that Christianity has brightened
his life. University Prof. Praneeth Abeysundara said “Although I am a Buddhist, my
meeting with Catholic priests has made my life more beautiful because they helped
me with their spiritual teachings. The professor told children from a Primary School
during a meeting held at the Centre for Society and Religion in Colombo that he has
read 'The Sermon on the Mount' and the Book of Proverbs many times, and both have
brightened his life. The event was held early September as part of the Month of the
Sinhalese literature. One can learn a lot from the Church’s teachings, he said and
added that many teachings especially help teenagers, who can learn to improve their
lives . Noting that that the world today is full of dangerous and evil things,"
Prof Abeysundara said modern media often seek to exploit and destroy the lives of
young people. Internet, Facebook, text messages, e-mails have positive and negative
aspects. They can improve communications, but they can also give easy access to dangerous
pictures, words and videos. This is why our children must learn to evaluate what they
have in front of them. Some Christian texts can illuminate their life," added the
Buddhist scholar. Source: Asianews
