Indian Archbishop Peter Prabhu passes away

11Sept.2013:. We regret to inform the death of retired Indian Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Peter Paul Prabhu, who passed away Tuesday night in Rome. Born in Chennai, southern India’s Tamilnadu State in 1931, he was ordained priest in 1955. He entered the Holy See’s diplomatic service in 1962, serving successively in Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Chile, France and Sudan. In 1977, he served in Vatican’s Pontifical Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Tourism. Ten years later(1987)he was appointed Deputy Secretary of what is now called Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant people. Archbishop Prabhu was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Zimbabwe in 1993 and consecrated bishop the following month. He resigned in 2002 at the age of 70.
