Vatican Radio ) On Monday 22nd of July Pope Francis will touch down in
the second largest city of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. This journey, the first abroad
of his pontificate also marks his first World Youth Day ever and takes him to the
nation which has the largest Catholic community in Latin America. Originally planned
for his predecessor to the See of Peter, Benedict XVI now Pope Emeritus, most of
the scheduled events will go ahead as originally planned. But Pope Francis has
already added his own personal touches to the journey, from inflight arrangements
with the press corps, to the use of an open air jeep to travel through the crowds
of young people, to his visit to the Marian Shrine of Aparecida. Travelling with
the Pope throughout this journey, which ends on July 28th, is the head of the English
Programme here at Vatican Radio, Sean Patrick Lovett. Veronica Scarisbrick sat
