Welcome to our special program on the Year of Faith, THE FAITHFUL WITNESS, a series
on the lives of Inspiring People and Witnesses of faith in the Catholic Church from
around the world. These are people who lived their ordinary lives in extraordinary
ways. They are examples of great fortitude and virtue. Their unique stories inspire
us to be rooted in our faith. God calls each one of us today to inspire our brothers
and sisters and to be witnesses of our faith. The Faithful Witness of this week
is Father K.J. Joseph, a Jesuit missionary working in Darjeeling in the state of West
Bengal in India. He has been teaching in St. Joseph College, North Point in Darjeeling
for about 20 years. Last year he took a break from his teaching profession to work
among the people of British Guyana. He speaks about his life, faith experiences, and
the people of Guyana. xxx Our Faithful Witness of today, Jesuit Father
K.J. Joseph of Darjeeling shares with us his own faith experiences, his missionary
work, and the people of British Guyana. Father Joseph a hearty welcome to Vatican
Radio. Listen: What or who
inspired you to become a priest and a Jesuit? What are your outstanding experience
in the Society of Jesus or in the Church? Of course, Society of Jesus has its
own spirituality, anything you like to share with us? Prior to this experience
you were a missionary in Guyana, what was your experience? You didn’t find any
difficulty there? Have you encountered any difficult situation where your faith
came as a help? Have your faith affected people of other faiths and theirs affected
your faith? What do you think of the impact of the Year of Faith? What do you
think of the Indian Church and its mission?
Thank you Father Joseph. That
was Father K.J. Joseph, a Jesuit priest from Darjeeling in India, sharing faith us
